Lovecraft's Childhood Dreams & Nightmares

by SourceCodeX

This piece was truly a mixing marathon, lasting over 18 minutes with 13 tracks mixed down to 2-channel stereo. I had to redo many tracks due to Cubase buffering issues causing dropouts. Enuff tech talk.

H. P. Lovecraft is quite the mysterious fellow when you try to understand his literary influences and inspiration. He of course was greatly moved by the writings of Lord Dunsany but he quickly branched off into his truly groundbreakingly cryptic and unique style. Only the spectacular Clark Ashton Smith came close to Lovecraft's deep imagination.

I thought to myself this week, that perhaps his inspiration came from childhood dreams and nightmares, though I don't remember reading that fact anywhere. Thus is the reason this piece is so named.

It is many variations on a theme, a common musical technique used in the past.

I hope you find some interesting.
