I decided to try two things, theme-wise, before creating this piece of musical madness.
1. I wanted to connect the ominous Cthulhu's "encounter with humans" theme with Gustav Holst's Mars: The Bringer of War composition. Men have foolishly decided to make war with Cthulhu, now oddly located in the Antarctic's Mountains of Madness. The voice of Cthulhu utters a warning. The men advance as we hear the heavy metal guitar and synths version "lift" from Holst's The Planets. The battle is intense but short. Then we hear synths droning in the frozen wasteland's silence, echoing decimation. and Cthulhu's realm persists victorious. Cthulhu mutters a final warning to Mankind.
2. I hadn't done much guitar work in my released music since 2012 -- so it was high time I returned to using the instrument I began my earlier musical journey after I first heard Jimi Hendrix. You will still find the use of synth textures throughout the piece via the Sunrizer iPad synth app. Along with guitar and synth, I also played bass. Cthulhu's voice is my own, via manipulation in GoldWave.
The outro synth "groove" is a return to a theme from my "Murmurings of Nyarlahotep".
Believe it or not, this stereo piece of music was created from 40 tracks of audio. The use of headphones is urged for the fullest effect this piece can deliver.
